SEATTLE (AP) - The Seattle Mariners have placed left-handed reliever George Sherrill on the 15-day disabled list.

The Mariners made the roster move on Friday ahead of their home opener against Oakland. Sherrill has a strained flexor bundle in his left elbow and his move to the disabled list is retroactive to April 10.

Sherrill has appeared in two games and has allowed four earned runs and six hits, including two homers, in just 1 1-3 innings.

Seattle recalled left-hander Charlie Furbush from Triple-A Tacoma to take Sherrill's spot in the bullpen. Furbush was part of Seattle's opening day roster in Japan, but was optioned to Tacoma on April 4. He's given up just one hit in four innings with the Rainiers.
