Last year "Tebowing" was en vogue. This week, "Felixing" has become fashionable.

Athletes, fans, and comedians across America copied Tim Tebow's kneel down pose as a salute to the Denver quarterback's accomplishments last year.

After Felix Hernandez tossed the first perfect no-hitter in Seattle Mariners baseball history, he raised both arms in the air and perched on his left leg.

On Saturday at Safeco Field, Hernandez's teammates Lucas Luetge, Tom Wilhelmsen, John Jaso, and Charlie Furbush struck a similar pose for a "Felixing" photo.

The phenomenon is also gaining some traction in the entertainment industry. Pearl Jam lead singer Eddie Vedder got into the action upon a recent visit to Safeco Field.

At CenturyLink Field, Seattle Sounders forward Fredy Montero scored a goal against the Vancouver Whitecaps, and he also did the "Felix."

Montero has been asked to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at Safeco Field Tuesday night when King Felix makes his next Mariners start.

Tuesday will mark Felix's first start after completing the first perfect game in Mariners history.

The usual "King's Court" section in left field will be expanded to the "Supreme Court" for Tuesday's game. The first 34,000 fans entering the ballpark will receive a special bright yellow "King of Perfection" T-shirt and the commemorative "K" card will include a classic photo from the perfect game on the back side.

Tuesday's game can be heard beginning at 7:10 p.m. on 710 ESPN Seattle.

    This is not Tebowing. This is typical Seattle making too much out of nothing and trying to make it a national thing. Felix is great but does not and will not have the following Tebow does. The rest of the country will not care about this and will not do it like they took to Tebowing. And to say "The phenomenon is also gaining some traction in the entertainment industry" is complete stupidity. It's Eddie Vedder, a Seattle native visiting Safeco Field. Perfect chance for some 2-way PR. That the Mariners PR dept. will push this is pathetic. Not as pathetic as Pitch-and-Stitch night, but really bad. Stuff like this is why the rest of the country laughes at Seattle sports fans.

    But you are right, this isn't Tebowing because it is better than Tebowing. "Oh look, I actually completed a pass that somehow ended up scoring. Let me go down on one knee." I like Tebow but a perfect game by a pitcher is soooooooooo much better than a play that happens repeatedly in football. And Seattle is not taking too much out of nothing and everytime a perfecto happens, it is a national thing you retar.d. First time that 3 perfectos happen in a single season, first time it happened twice at the same stadium in the same season, and first time in Mariner's franchise history. And btw, the reason people laugh at Seattle sports fans is because of people such as your retardedness not appreciating when a tremendous achievement takes place in sports.

    People weren't Tebowing to celibrate Tebow, they were making fun of him. And I appreciate the perfect game just fine and understand exactly what the accomplishment meant. Seattle isn't making too much out of nothing in regards to the perfect game, they are making too much out of nothing as far as 'Felixing' going viral or becoming some national fad. If you would have comprehended what was written, you would have seen that I was refering to the 'Felixing' fad and not the perfect game.

    Let me try and enlighten you. Although you can't really fix stupid. The Mariners have the best record in the AL since the all star break. They have won 13 of their last 14 at home. They are 23-13 since the break. Now tell me, what is your version of winning in your estranged version of reality?

    ...as long as ESPN on their Sunday Evening Sportscenter doesn't show any highlights from the Seattle/Minnesota game. The only thing that will get the Mariners back on Sportscenter will be 1) games Felix Pitches 2) Games the team plays against the SportsCenter Favorites (Boston, NY, Texas, California/Anaheim/LA) or 3) they need something to fill dead air time.

    Whoever said winning wasn't fun or that this kind of stuff is more fun than rooting for a winning team? Jesus you guys are a bunch of sticks in the mud. The guy threw a freaking perfect game and people are having fun with it. There's nothing wrong with that. It was a win for crying out loud. Who the heck cares if the team or the media is playing this up to be more than it probably is? Nobody is happy when we lose and just because people are celebrating this perfect game, and rightfully so I might add, doesn't mean that they're happy with how the season has gone or how the last decade has gone. Can't people be allowed to have some fun with the celebration of a perfect game without a handful of people coming on and peeing in their cheerios?

    When my team is doing good, I am happy and voice my happiness. When my team is doing bad, I am angry and voice my anger. I do not stop rooting and I do not stop supporting. I will call a spade a spade though and demand that the powers that be hold up their end of the bargain and give me a winner. That is not bandwagoning. Bandwagoning is when you go to games and cheer when the team wins and ignore them completely when they are loosing. That's what happens in Seattle and why actual sports cities laugh at Seattle sports fans. BTW, the Mariners are not and will never be my team.

    I am railing against 'Felixing' and someones delutional idea that it is going to be the next big internet thing, not the perfect game. The perfect game is a huge achievement that should be commended. 'Felixing' is just stupid and never should have been started in the first place.

    I appreciate your enthusiasm for soccer. However I watched that Cascadia match and Montero did NOT do a "Felixing" celebratory move.

    He did a move quite similar to previous goals where he jumps in the air and does kind of a quick 1, 2 punch with his fists at about hip level. And if I recall, other than his legs raising in the air at differing levels, the move looks nothing like a "Felixing".

    BTW: That was a pretty exciting goal as well as second half.

    If Felix's brethren want to have fun with this, why not? They are the hottest team in the MLB ;-) (5 game winning streak, as of last night anyway) and a perfect game thrown in the midst. With this team, there aint a whole lot of things that are fun. Any bit of energy and enthusiasm is welcome at this point.

    Time will tell if this catches on beyond our borders, however.....
