A construction worker had his arm crushed when a piece of heavy equipment fell from the Skagit River Bridge construction area on I-5, according to Burlington police.
Officer Jed Cates says crews were lowering a piece of equipment when the man got his arm caught. He was transported to a local hospital, but his condition was unknown.
Construction continues as crews work to replace a temporary span on the bridge in place since June after a section of the bridge fell into the river on May 23, 2013. The new bridge span is scheduled to open by October 1.
