Seattle mayoral candidates trying to out-left each other

Good luck choosing between the two Seattle mayoral candidates.

We’ve got two mayoral candidates, Ed Murray and the incumbent Mike McGinn. Both of them were asked recently by our news partner KING 5 about the movement to raise the minimum wage to $15 in Seattle.

We already have the highest minimum wage in the country here in Washington. But it’s not high enough here in Seattle apparently.

McGinn told KING 5: “I support increasing the minimum wage.”

Mike McGinn, of course if he can take some businesses money and just give it to people, if that will get him the votes of those people he’s being so benevolent for, of course he’s going to support that.

But I’m sure we have a competing point of view from his opponent Ed Murray.

Not quite.

“The last thing we want is a business, labor war in this city. I think we can avoid that. I think we can do this constructively and over time,” Murray told KING 5.

So, Ed Murray says he also would like to increase the minimum wage, but he says he doesn’t want to hurt businesses.

Here’s what politics has become, it’s about how much free stuff you can give to people. The more free stuff you give, the more they’ll vote for you. That’s politics. That’s what it’s all about.

So, this is what diversity is these days: who can be the farthest to the left, and who can give the most free stuff to people. Whoever gives them the most wins in Seattle apparently.
