Just as we're getting our hopes up about the chance the Sacramento Kings might move to Seattle there's a new lawsuit to stop the SoDo arena.

It's the second lawsuit filed to stop Seattle and King County from pitching in to help investor Chris Hansen with his plans to build the sports arena.

The new lawsuit alleges the use of $200 million in public funds violates a Seattle rule requiring the city make a profit on the investment.

The suit was filed on behalf of four Seattle taxpayers. It argues the promise of future revenues through rent, arena taxes and interest payments isn't enough.

The Seattle Times reports a court date has been set for next month.

The unions representing Port of Seattle workers have also sued the city and King County over the proposed arena.

Meanwhile, design firm 360 Architecture is continuing to develop plans for the new arena. They are going through a formal design review process, a first-of-its kind for a Seattle sports facility.

The options for the $490 million, 18,000- to 20,000-seat facility include soaring glass, brick and concrete walls, wide, cascading entrance steps, with views of Elliot Bay and Mount Rainier from the top.

360 Architecture Inc. has told the city's Design and Review Board that the new arena will be unique and pedestrian friendly, and blend well with the neighborhood.

    Citizens for More Important Things are a group of Morons. They file lawsuits claiming to be protecting the tax payers, yet it is the tax payers that will now have to pay to fight the suit. They should follow their own mantra, and find something "more important" then filing useless lawsuits at taxpayers exspense.

    The city council can vote to suspend I-91, and citizens' initive can be "undone" after two years. This is a gigantic waste of time, effort and Tax payers money.

    Don't make the same mistake Anaheim did by just assuming it's a done deal. NEVER underestimate Sacramento and our great mayor Kevin Johnson who is doing everything humanly possible to keep this team.

    Watching some of the same folks who cried about the injustice of losing the Sonics five years ago get all giddy over the process of doing the EXACT SAME THING to Sacramento turn my stomach. Have you no sense of pride or decency? At least have the class stay silent and celebrate only when and IF you end up stealing our team.

    Won't be Stealing. Hansen and his group have made no secret of thie intent to buy and move a fanchise, no matter where it came from. What happened with the Sonics was/is completley different. Should we get the KINGS? Perhaps not, but the Maloofs can not be forced to sell to anyone from CA. if they don't want to. I find it funny that you all in Sacramento seem to equate what was done by Bennett and the NBA to Seattle is in anyway that same that is going on there. Not even close. Seattle was never even provided a 2nd chance, nor a third chance, or fourth, etc.... Stern never went to bat, and fought for the Sonics to remain in Seattle. All he ever did was come in here an threaten us that we'd better do what they want or else. Sonics were never even offered a "line of credit" from the NBA to help with financing a possible new area in the Area. You folks in Sacramento that are cryiung foul now, make me sick. Get all your facts before you make broad statements like this.

    the whole situation is different our team was taken from us, your team can't afford to stay there big difference and the NBA does not want your team there thanks to your great brothers who own it. So if they come here we didn't steal them.

    Can't afford to stay here? Based on WHAT? The ignorance out there on this issue is bad. Sacramento had better attendance than the Sonics for 9 of the last 10 years the Sonics were still in Seattle. Sacramento has two of the top five NBA sell out streaks of all time so please spare me the nonsense. Sacramento is a great NBA market with a great fanbase, a great mayor, and investors who want to buy the team and keep it here. Sacramento has done more to keep it's team than Seattle did its team in 2008. We just got screwed by lying, manipulating, broke owners who backed out of their commitment at the last minute. We should not punished when we've done everything possible to keep this team and your city should not be rewarded when it was your own failures in 2008 that cost you your team. That's just the way it is and if there's any justice at all in the NBA, you will not get our team because you don't deserve it.

We had no control over coniving, deceiving, lying out of town owners that came in here and lied to our faces, and lied to our politicians with no intention of keeping our team here, yet demanding $millions in blackmail to build them a new arena.
