WSU and HBO help freak us all out about baseball

Want to never feel safe at a baseball game again? HBO’s Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel recently stopped by Washington State University in Pullman to film a segment on foul ball injuries in the MLB. The findings, as you can tell from this two-minute trailer, are frightening.

My producer found this story. Please join me in blaming him for our now (irrational?) fear of baseball games.

Granted, the likelihood of a foul ball hitting you at this speed is still rather low, this trailer is incredibly scary. Think about it: Are you paying that close attention to every moment of a game? And even if you are, are you quick enough to stop errant baseballs traveling at high speeds towards your head?
