Seahawks-49ers tickets as hot as Superbowl season
"I think this is just as big as the Superbowl year or bigger," says longtime Seahawks fan Leif Anderson. While CenturyLink is always sold out, Anderson can usually finagle a ticket from a friend of his with connections to the team, or at least find a couple of tickets online for a decent price. Not this game.
"It's as tough as it's ever been. Even the nosebleed seats are going for $250 and up."
He's not exaggerating. A check of popular ticket resale site StubHub Friday afternoon showed even standing room only tickets in the farthest corners of the stadium going for $200 and up. Good seats in the lower levels were selling for as high as $1700.
Even parking passes are selling for a premium. Some season ticket holders are offering them up for as much as $50.
Many of the tickets selling for so much are from the stock of season ticket holders clearly trying to take advantage of the demand. And there are plenty of complaints about the inflated prices.
A number of people have posted gripes about the markups on Craigslist and local blogs.
"Really most tickets are around $100 and you mark them up 300 to 400%," wrote one anonymous commenter. "I understand a little mark up but you are all ridiculous. I hope none of you sell your tickets and get screwed over because you deserve it."
There is some compromise. You can watch the San Francisco game on the new TV you bought with the money you didn't spend to attend, then pick up a pair of seats that are going for an 50 percent less or more to see the Seahawks take on St. Louis the following weekend at CenturyLink Field.
