ASHBURN, Va. (AP) - Left guard Kory Lichtensteiger missed practice with a sprained left ankle Wednesday as the Washington Redskins held their first practice for the playoffs.

Lichtensteiger was hurt in the third quarter of Sunday's NFC East-clinching win over the Dallas Cowboys.

"I wish I was doing better, but it's the hand I'm dealt," Lichtensteiger said. "I really want to be out there, and I'm going to give it everything I can to be out there, but who knows at this point?"

Third-round pick Josh LeRibeus, who played 21 snaps in relief during the Redskins' 274-yard rushing effort against the Cowboys, would likely make his first NFL start if Lichtensteiger can't go this Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks.

Linebacker London Fletcher also did not practice because of a sprained left ankle, but he has frequently sat out since he was injured in mid-November. Fletcher has never missed a game in his 15-year NFL career and is expected to play Sunday.

Backup quarterback Kirk Cousins missed practice because of the flu, and nickel cornerbacks D.J. Johnson and DeJon Gomes are both dealing with sprained left knees. Johnson did not practice, while Gomes was limited.

Wednesday also marked the return of cornerback Cedric Griffin following his four-game suspension without pay for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances.

"He looked like he'd been away for a few weeks," coach Mike Shanahan said. "And I thought he had a good day of practice, but we'll evaluate that day-by-day."

The Redskins have yet to decide whether to restore Griffin to the active roster for this week's game.

Asked if he had any doubts about whether the Redskins would bring him back, Griffin replied: "That's none of my concern. ... I'm here now. It's a new year."

In his first season with Washington, the 30-year-old Griffin was a regular in nickel packages and has 33 tackles and a forced fumble.

"I'm sure I'll be out there (Sunday)," Griffin said. "I'm in pretty good shape right now. Coach Shanahan feels comfortable about my situation."

Video: Seahawks stay mum on Lockette with TMZ paparazzi

What do you get when you send a clearly ignorant cameraman to try and get comments from the Seahawks about the supposed "suspicious incident" involving wide receiver Ricardo Lockette, 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and a young woman? A healthy dose of glares from the likes of Doug Baldwin and others.
