The troubles continue in Minnesota for star receiver Percy Harvin. Harvin is expected to hold out from offseason workouts and training camp if the Vikings don't give him a contract extension, Pro Football Talk reported Monday.

Harvin is expected to make $2.9 million in 2013. That's far less than other top receivers, and there's plenty of talk the disgruntled wide out wants big-time money. After all, Tampa Bay's Vincent Jackson - the top free agent wide receiver last offseason -- signed a five-year, $55.5 million deal last March.

Reports say the Vikings are looking to trade Harvin, who has had a rocky relationship with head coach Leslie Frazier and other players and coaches since he was drafted in the first-round back in 2009.

He could be appealing to a lot of teams, including the Seahawks. But 710 ESPN Seattle's Mike Salk says the price and the problems would be too much.

In today's Brock and Salk Show recap, Salk says even if Seattle could trade for Harvin, he's just not worth $10 million or more, especially with young stars like Russell Wilson and Richard Sherman looking at new deals down the road.

    'Nuff said. This is our window of contention while Russell, Richard, Earl, et al are cheap. If you need more money later to resign guys, then just cut Harvin later on. For Flynn straight up? Flynn and a 5th? Yeah that's a steal even if only for one year, if that one year means extended playoffs.

    he certainly isn't 9 mil+ a year better than tate. it's idiotic to sink that kind of money into someone whose health and attitude are questionable at best.... jackson certainly isn't worth that, and imo there probably isn't a WR worth anywhere near that other than perhaps megatron....

    Vincent Jackson is not worth that? You're kidding. To me the question is not whether he is ~9 mil better than Tate, it is: Is that ~9 mil worth a Super Bowl? That is what we're playing for, not counting pennies. It is undeniable that Harvin is a game breaking presence. I don't know of a single team that can't use that. It's not a coincidence that New England is and has aways been in on him—and they already have Welker in the slot. Also, as long as we can come in under the cap, what do you care? You worried about Paul Allen's estate? Like I said, if we need more room later down he road then cut him. Football contracts are not guaranteed. The idea is to win now. I like Tate, but he is not the player that Harvin is. The whole idea is to be better than the other reams, not count your beans and feel smug about how much more cost effective you are when you lose in the divisional round. Send Flynn and Tate for Harvin, and that alone brings a lot of money off the books. When you look at it like that it gets pretty simple: you just got better than last year,

    Unspent cap money can be carried over from one year to the next, so it's not about saving money, it's about spending it on the right people. Harvin is a malcontent with a history of migraines and has played only 1 full season in 4 years. I'd rather spend the money on the defensive line, the thing this team needs the most if it wants to win a championship is a consistent pass rush.

    I agree that Seahawks need a more consistent pass rush, but they've shown that they can get by with what they have now. If Clemons wasn't injured, Matt Ryan likely doesn't do as well as he does in the last game. The Seahawks need a legit #1 WR. The Seahawks receiving corps doesn't scare any defenses as constituted. I don't understand how anybody could be content with the inconsistent play of Golden Tate and Sydney Rice. If we had Calvin Johnson and Roddy White, then yes, I would be content, but we don't. Only reason Russell Wilson did as well as he did last year was because his intangibles are off the charts. He carried the team last year on his shoulders. If they had anybody on the WR corps they were likely SB bound.

    Harvin is the difference in Seattle going to a Super Bowl next year? LOL. Really? Come on, man. Really? The difference between this team missing the SB and getting there in 2012 sure seemed a lot more relative to the defensive side of things; a pass rush in particular. If you'd like to point to a 10 million/year DE or DT, now that's something that carries a bit more credibility as "the missing piece" than an overhyped slot receiver like Harvin.

    harvin over tate is not the difference between a super bowl and well, anything short of that. it's not the money; it's where it's placed. while there are several places added depth will help (OL is the first to come to mind), shoring up the pass rush is where the money should be spent. another stud DE or OLB who can pressure consistently, and another interior DL to help shore up the run defense. that's what will make the difference imo. they were 1 defensive stand from the nfc championship.

    Harvin's a malcontent and he brings drama that the Hawks don't need. Not only that but he's prone to getting hurt and has a history of migraines. In his case I think the bad outweighs the good, let alone the $9-10 million asking price. I'd much rather see them go after Keenan Allen, Terrance Williams or Deandre Hopkins in the draft. And Salk is right, Golden Tate has a similar skillset to Harvin and is a reasonable facsimile at this point, with upside to be as good or better down the road, without the issues. Modified equation: Keenan Allen, Golden Tate > Percy Harvin. And probably cheaper too.

    Harvin and his primadonna attitude can take it somewhere else. He wants #1 WR money and he'll likely never be a #1 option on any team. St. Louis sounds like a good spot for him. He'll get all the targets he wants over there, except for when he's going against Sherman, Browner, Thomas and co.. This team needs little upgrades to its receiving corps, not 10 million dollar per year contract type of upgrades. Give me a second TE with a real set of hands and route running skills. That will go much further than another slot receiver will.

    Harvin is an absolute nutcase. He acted like a brat at Florida, and had blowups with Childress and Frazier there in Minne. We already have a guy of his build in Golden Tate; we don't need another.

    Hasn't played a whole season since entering the NFL, he has migranes all the time and forget about catching a tough ball over the middle. He is an injury waiting to happen, no way I will pay him top receiver money to be the second best receiver on my team. That's crazy.

    Forget Harvin. Seahawks need to invest their salary cap dollars on their free agents. The Hawks don't have a salary cap for the next two years. But down the road all these young players are going to look to cash in. And I can't blame them.

    We were ranked towards the top of the league in Offense even without the 50 point games. Offense is good enough to win a SB as is. The problem is Defence, specificly pass rush. Remember the offence came back against the Falcons, it was the defence that couldn't hold them for 30 stinking seconds.....

    Folks: The Seahawks have a lot have players on the cheap. Down the road the Hawks are going to have find a way to resign Russell Okung, Russell Wilson, Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas, Brandon Browner, Cam Chancellor, etc. etc. There is just not enough cap dollars available to sign Harvin for big bucks and then try and keep your core players. Take a look at what is going on in the NFL. The Giants have had to cut some key players. Green Bay may lose Greg Jennings and Jermichael Finley. The Steelers are going to lose Michael Wallace(among other players). The Ravens are going to lose some key free agents. Dallas is 20 million over the cap. The list goes on. The Seahawks have a nice core of young talent. They need to make it a priority to keep that talent.
