Denver Broncos fans love Tim Tebow so much that fans are renting out billboard space begging head coach John Fox to play him. (AP image)

How would you like to be John Elway?

OK, so maybe it would be nice to have two Super Bowl rings and millions of dollars. But what is the former quarterback and current executive vice president of football operations for the Denver Broncos supposed to do at the quarterback position in the offseason?

The Broncos lost an important home game last Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs largely because quarterback Tim Tebow was horrible. Tebow went 6 for 22, throwing for just 60 yards, one interception and no touchdowns. Yet Tebow has been known to win those types of games.

He led the Broncos to six comeback wins in the fourth quarter and overtime this season, doing it with very mediocre statistics and awful quarterback mechanics.

But here's the real problem that Elway faces: If Tebow was a bad guy, a problem in the locker room and with the fans, it'd be a no-brainer – he'd be fired the second the season ended. But the fans in Denver LOVE Tim Tebow. They love him so much that fans are renting out billboard space begging head coach John Fox to play him.

I played with John Elway for four years, one at Stanford and three in Denver. He doesn't want Tim Tebow as his quarterback. He wants someone in his own image.

In spite of Denver's loss to Kansas City, the Oakland Raiders somehow found a way to screw it up and lost to San Diego, allowing the Broncos to back in to the playoffs. The Broncos are nearly as big an underdog as the Seahawks were last year against the New Orleans Saints.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are heavy favorites to win Sunday on the road in spite of their injury problems. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is hobbled with a badly sprained ankle, safety Ryan Clark is out because of a blood disorder and running back Rashard Mendenhall blew out his knee last week. Even though the Steelers are supposed to win by two scores, don't count out the Tim Tebow/Mile High magic.

Talk about problems for Elway - What if the Broncos pull out the upset and Tebow has another one of his 125-yard passing days and runs for the winning score? He can't play quarterback!

Elway knows he needs a long-term solution at the position but if he pulls the string on Tebow, the most beloved athlete in the history of Colorado sports (I mean Elway, not Tebow), may have a mutiny on his hands.

    Tebow isn't an NFL QB
If he was the Hawks QB I would cry myself to sleep. The Steelers are going to shut out the Broncos and hopefully Elway will go get a real QB and move saint Tebow to Fullback or Wide Receiver.

I really wanted the Hawks to draft Tebow.
Despite his horrible footwork! He needs to be in the right place, just like any other athlete, with players around him that compliment his skill set. Right now the Seahawks don't have that. I would hate to see Pete Carrol ruin him, and as much as I still abhor the Broncos from our AFC West days....John Fox and his ball control approach is a good place for Tebow to mature. He needs a Top Notch QB coach, say Jim Zorn to remedy his footwork and timing. Right now when Tebow throws on the run he looks like Raggedy Andy in shoulder pads!

    Who wants a back-up QB.....
...that's too visible and ticks you off at the same time? That doesn't describe our own back-up QB (well, he does takes good notes). If Cutler wasn't hurt, the Broncos GM wouldn't have an issue. Maybe he'd even hang out with kickers, God help us. Right now, that probably describes Tebow's team entourage, for all we know. After they get blown out today against the Steelers (boooo), life will return to normal and Cutler can pass again next seasonj...

You do know that Culter plays for the Bears right? He has played for the Bears the last two seasons. What Tebow needs besides a good Qb coach is WR. They make him the starter and then trade their best WR in the same week. He needs WR's that not only get open but can catch the ball. The games I have seen, about three of them. His Wr's have dropped a lot of passes. Tebow has plenty he needs to improve on, but none of that will matter if they do not get him the weapons to win with in the passing game.

    I will say this though
Tebow has more 4th quater drives for wins this year then T. Jackson has in his entire career.

The only good thing that could come from that.....
is the national media would start ignoring him, like they do all Seahawks.

    And for comparison...
...Tebow to Tavaris for 4th quarter quality is not a fair comparison... to Tebow. Seahawks' 4th quarter strategy/scheme is still a work in progress.

    It isnt about
the plays called, it is about the leadership, execution, and the IT FACTOR. Jackson lacks the IT FACTOR for sure. Think of it this way. When the hawks had the ball in Arizona with less then 3 minutes to go and needing a touchdown. Were you betting that jackson could get that TD? Of course you were not, you are no fool. Jackson has skills but he is missing the three things a QB needs if they are going to succeed in this league. I wish he had them! I wish NO ONE was talking about upgrading our QB possition, but unfortunately we have a good backup as our starter (FOR NOW). I wish Jackson could show up to camp next year a changed man but IM NOT BETTING ON IT. GO SEAHAWKS!!!

    Backup QB at best
Tim can be there for inspiration, whenever we need a little spark put tebow in and pray to god he doesn't turn the ball over. He is a nifty QB but like Jackson he lacks the skills to make it to a super bowl. Tebow would be a good distraction for Marshawn Lynch the same way he has been for Mcgahee

Why is this such a big deal!?!
I don't get these QB controversys with Tebow or the Seattle TJack situation. You should alvays look to improve every position, every year, especiall QB. I don't care WHO your QB is, including the Top Tier, You continue to bring in the Best Available talent and compete in the preseason/Season and play the best productive guy. It is Their job to produce or be replaced. Untill Management finds better you have to play them. I don't see better in Denver or Seattle......YET! Any competitive QB in college or the Pro's looking to be a starter should be drooling for a chance to compete against those two.

    Another chance to bash Christians..
All the hype about Tim Tebow is about his beiefs. He prays before games, big deal.. How do we know he does this? Because ESPN (who has a history of bashing Christians) shoves a camara in his face while he is doing it. The question shouldn't be why is Tim Tebow acting like Tim Tebow? The question should be why is the media using a story to divide people just so they can get advertising revenue? Would the media be like this with Sandy Koufax and his religon? Of course not..Draw your own conclusion, Tim Tebow can throw the ball, and he can win games. The real purpose of this article was to subtly bash Christians in the name of Sports reporting.

A better QB will solve everything.
The media will hype anyone for any reason. Fame is a double edge sword. If I were Tim, I would have stayed clear of the media until I got my game together. Elway must be going nuts. Fans chanting for a QB who can't throw? He must be wondering if the fans even remember Elway and how great a thrower he was. Truth is all we fans want is a winner. If Denver brings in a better QB and they win, Tebow will just be a memory.

The first one to raise that issue here, was you... Well let me have some fun at your expense. Jesus loves America's Best Christian© St. Timothy so much, he is going to convince the evil Ben Rapistberger, to turn the other cheek and allow Denver to win. Boy, do I feel better.
