We could see two state gun initiatives on the ballot in November of 2014.

Gun rights groups started gathering signatures over the weekend for I-591 at the Washington Arms Collectors Show in Puyallup.

The Protect Our Gun Rights Initiative would prevent the state from adopting background-check laws that are more restrictive than the federal standard.

“It protects guns people from having their gun confiscated on one hand and on the other hand it just says any background check should have a national uniform standard,” Galand Marshall explained to KING 5.

If 591 gets 246,000 valid signatures, it could end up on the same November 2014 ballot as I-594, a pro-background check measure.
