Teen arrested in shooting of 17-year-old girl in Burien

A 17-year-old boy was arrested Thursday morning in the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old girl Wednesday night in Burien.
The shooting happened at an apartment building in the 600 block of Ambaum Boulevard Southwest at 10:25 p.m., KIRO 7 reports.
Neighbors say the teen was visiting her boyfriend’s family.
Deputies found the victim lying in a hallway with a gunshot wound to the head. Medics tried to revive her but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Residents said there were sounds of an argument in a hallway shortly before the shooting.
Witnesses told officers they heard three gunshots and saw a black man in his late teens or early 20s, with afro-style hair, fleeing the area. He was wearing a red jacket, gray sweat pants and white shoes.
They also saw a black BMW leaving the parking lot at the same time.
Police said the shooting does not appear to be random.

Shoreline suspect shot by homeowner
Hours later, a homeowner shot a man trying to break into his home in Shoreline.
The shooting occurred in the 120 block of NE 174th Street about 4 a.m. Thursday, KIRO 7 reports.
Deputies say the suspect tried to kick in the back door, tried to kick in the front door and then threw lawn furniture through a window about 3 a.m. Thursday.
The homeowner then fired two gunshots at the man, hitting him once in the thigh.
The suspect was transported to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
King County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Jason Houck said the homeowner’s wife and two teenage daughters were in the house at the time of the shooting. One of the teenage girls called 911 while her father got his gun as the man tried to break in.

Houck said the suspect, a 41-year-old man, lives in the area. A possible connection to the home or a motive for his actions is not known.
It is not known if the suspect was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
