According to the Associated Press, 28 districts just started testing water since the Tacoma school district announced it had found lead in the drinking water in some its buildings. (AP)

In recent water concerns, Auburn School District reviewed historical water testing records from 2008 that showed 10 schools had a total of 20 individual fixtures showing elevated lead levels.

As a result, the school district says it is taking the following actions:

•Water to the fixtures with elevated lead levels has been turned off until retesting can be completed.

•Fixtures identified in the report will be retested Monday. Based on the results of the retesting, the district will replace fixtures as needed.

•The district will be testing drinking water at all Auburn School District schools and facilities beginning next month.

•All Auburn School District families are being notified of the plan with a letter.

Of the 20 fixtures with elevated lead levels, nine of them have already been mitigated, according to the school district. The district will be retesting all of the fixtures, even those we have replaced.

These are the schools involved in the 2008 testing and how they have been addressed:

•Auburn High: This high school was modernized and rebuilt and none of the tested locations exist any longer. All have been resolved.

•Auburn Riverside: This is a science classroom and the water is not used for drinking water, no action necessary.

•West Auburn High School: Will be retested within a week. Removed from service pending results.

•Cascade Middle School:  Two of the fixtures were removed in a 2015 facility renovation.  Three other fixtures will be retested within a week and were removed from service pending results.

•Mt. Baker Middle School: Will be retested within a week. Removed from service pending results.

•Olympic Middle School:  Both fixtures will be retested within a week. Removed from service pending results.

•Dick Scobee Elementary: Will be retested within a week. Removed from service pending results.

•Gildo Rey Elementary: One of the fixtures was replaced during a 2013 facility renovation. The other fixture will be retested within a week. Removed from service pending results.

•Lake View Elementary: One of the fixtures was replaced during a 2013 facility renovation. The other two fixtures will be retested within a week. Removed from service pending results.

•Terminal Park Elementary: Will be retested within a week. Removed from service pending results.
