Seattle police arrest suspect in Columbia City ‘shootout’

Police say they’ve arrested a suspect in a shootout in Seattle’s Columbia City Friday morning.

Several witnesses reported hearing six or more shots fired about 11:00 a.m. near the area of 5200 39 Ave. S. Witnesses also reported seeing two men firing at a passing vehicle and the occupants of the vehicle returning fire.

After a search on foot, officers tracked down a suspect hiding in a house in the 5000 block of 42 Ave. S. Officers arrested the man without incident and recovered a handgun.

The man will be booked into King County Jail for weapons violations.

The Gang Unit responded and processed the scene. There were no reported injuries or property damage.
