Shooting prompts school lockdown in Tacoma

Tacoma police say two schools in the area were in lockdown for a nearby shooting.

Lincoln High School and Whitman Elementary School were locked down while police investigated a shooting in an alley near
S. 37th St. and S. Thompson Ave. Wednesday morning.

One man was shot in the leg. Police say it appears a group of five or six people were involved in the shooting, but they took off from the scene.

The victim is being transported to a nearby hospital.
