Report: Seahawks to sign kicker Ryan Longwell
ESPN's Ed Werder reports the Seahawks will sign veteran kicker Ryan Longwell as insurance for Steven Hauschka.
The Seahawks were exploring free-agent options at kicker after Hauschka sustained a calf strain against Washington, putting his status for Sunday's divisional-round game against Atlanta in question.
According to Werder, Seattle tried out three other kickers before picking Longwell, a 15-year veteran who has not kicked this season. Longwell, 38, was released in May by the Vikings after spending the last six seasons in Minnesota.
Neil Rackers, who also hasn't kicked this season, was one of the other kickers the Seahawks looked at, according to Werder.
Update: Hauschka has been informed he will be placed on season-ending injured reserve, Aaron Levine of Q13 Fox is reports.
