Seahawks hire Matt Thomas to front-office role
By Brady Henderson
The Seahawks have hired Matt Thomas as vice president of football administration, a position vacated last week when John Idzik left to become the Jets' new general manager.
The team made the announcement Friday.
Thomas spent the previous three seasons working in a similar role with the Browns. His primary responsibility will presumably be managing the Seahawks' salary cap.
"Matt is a well-respected salary cap expert and was recommended by many top-ranking NFL executives," general manager John Schneider said in the team's press release. "I am excited to welcome him to our football family."
Thomas spent 12 seasons in the Dolphins' front office.
