Bob Kravitz of The Indianapolis Star joins "Brock and Salk" and discusses pass rusher Dwight Freeney's potential fit with the Seahawks and the sustainability of the read-option offense in the NFL.

Indianapolis Star columnist Bob Kravitz thought Russell Wilson was slightly more deserving than Robert Griffin III and Andrew Luck for the NFL's offensive rookie of the year award.

But asked which quarterback he'd take among the three, Kravitz said he'd go with Luck. His reasoning?

"I still believe that the old-style quarterbacking is what's going to last in this league," Kravitz told "Brock and Salk" on Tuesday.

Kravitz, calling in from the scouting combine in Indianapolis, said he agreed with a comment he had just heard from Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians, who was Luck's offensive coordinator last season.

"He was saying that defensive coordinators are going to figure out the pistol and the read-option within a year or two," Kravitz said. "... I still think that to win Super Bowls, you've got to win it from the pocket, as did Joe Flacco. It's great if you can run a little bit, but I don't think that can be the core of your offense. ... Going forward, I don't think that type of offense has staying power in this league."

mike/brock I agree, football is changing. the read option is a good part of the Hawks offence. Part of, not all. the Hawks defence is ewaht is wanting. The run and pass defence needs more help. Mike, I dont even like liberals at all. Im old, hell I saw the Rose Bowl with the huskies in 62. I was young. I like you Mike. It's your radio voice and you can listen too. You have a good way of telling the story. That's all seattle is (or boston), a story. Man you will miss Seattle. I'm a conservative, but Brock is preppy. Brock is clean and white. Good thing Brock is smart, cause the white thing has got him tight. (Nobody in radio land wants to hear about real estate, uh er commercial bla bla. Or nordstrom shoes. bleech. That pissed off Boston dude you did on air two years ago was extremely funny. I laughed my blank off talking about "fenway, bla bla' Mike, that was fukkin funny. funniest thing ever on radio. and that's what I love about the evolution of the Seahawks offense. We are a hybrid west coast offense, with emphasis on the running game and play action. Adding the zone read is a compliment and only works with a RW type QB. The beauty is RW is smart when running it, he goes down or runs out of bounds, avoiding direct hits (unlike RG3 who is not as smart). Now you can build off of it and add more options and wrinkles, keeping the defense guessing. Go Hawks!

Well said. Gonna miss ya Salk... seriously. Heard the broadcast where you announced you'd be leaving. And as it came up to the announcement, the sound of your voice made me say out loud, "oh, I hope you're not going anywhere." And to my sadness, you are. We'll be losing the "Dougie Fista Lova" back to the East Coast. Don't forget us bro! Take care over there!
