Seahawks add Ricardo Lockette to roster
By Brady Henderson
The Seahawks have elevated Ricardo Lockette from the practice squad to the active roster and placed fellow wide receiver Sidney Rice on injured reserve.
The Seahawks made the announcements Wednesday, a day after confirming that Rice will miss the remainder of the season with a torn ACL.
The Seahawks' decision to fill his spot on the roster with Lockette is a sign that Percy Harvin may be at least another week away from making his debut. Harvin, who is three months removed from hip surgery and just began practicing with the team last week, did not practice Wednesday. The Seahawks have two more weeks before they must activate him from the Physically Unable to Perform list.
Lockette, 27, joined Seattle's practice squad last week, returning to the team that signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2011. He appeared in Seattle's final two games that season and caught two passes for 105 yards and a touchdown.
Nicknamed "The Rocket" for his blazing speed, Lockette was a 200-meter sprint champion in college and was even clocked at 4.27 seconds in the 40-yard dash.
Lockette spent last season and this preseason with the 49ers. He was released from the Bears' practice squad before signing with Seattle last week.
