What to make of Matt Flynn's allegedly weak arm

Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com joins "Brock and Salk" and shares his thoughts on quarterback Matt Flynn's alleged "popgun" arm and the Seahawks' decision to have him compete with Tarvaris Jackson and Russell Wilson.

One line from a recent story on Brandon Weeden and the Cleveland Browns' offseason search for an upgrade at quarterback should interest Seahawks fans.

"Of the more realistic candidates," Tony Grossi of ESPN Cleveland wrote Wednesday, "free agent Matt Flynn was no bigger than [Colt] McCoy with a similarly popgun arm. He was never seriously considered."

Flynn visited only the Seahawks and Dolphins before signing with Seattle.

"Popgun" was Grossi's description of Flynn's arm -- not necessarily the Browns' -- but it presumably reflects his perception of the team's stance on Flynn.

If so, should we chalk it up to sour grapes or legitimate concerns about his arm strength? Brock Huard and Mike Salk discuss that question in Thursday's Wrap Up video.

Brock never disputed the "popgun" description. I would have felt better if he had said, naw I've seen his arm strength and its more than adequate

That would've been nice... Ultimately, it's as Florio says—his story is unfinished, and I guess we'll get to see for ourselves. I'd be happy with a 2005 Hasselbeck arm. You don't need to throw the ball through a wall if you have touch and timing. Hass threw a beautiful pass and he never had a gun.

Ahhh farmland, and he has been hit the head a few/alot of times. So he's a sellout media whor*. As far as Flynn if you just watch his basic films. His arm is so weak and the long ball is out of the question.. Oh well see how it play's out. Paul can afford it right.

This is simply the Browns and their "sour grapes" that they didn't get Matt Flynn. They said basically the same thing about RGIII. To the Cleveland Browns I say.."Yeah, sure, and if you believe your comments, I have a bridge in Lake Havasu, AZ I'll sell to you for a cheap price."

All this complaining about the Hawks need a QB, now they question the arm strength? Flynn has done nothing, but I wish him well, at least CW is holding the clipboard in SD, as opposed to here. I feel sorry for Cleveland, they have Holmgren at the wheel, who was the recipient of GM Ron Zook and QB text Brett in GB,the was fired as a GM in Seattle after the Walter Jones ,Steve Hutchinson debacle, and was handed Dennis Ericksons team.

Steve Pool has better insight than Brock and Sulk. Where do I apply to take the job? 710 can do way better. A consistent bummer for afternoon programing. Calabro must have a million jokes behind the scenes I would kill to hear his real thoughts on these 2 clowns. Seriously, Seattle deserves better.

i love how sulk burrows down to the nats whisker on something silly *sarcasm* should we be concerned when game 5 hits and there have been 12 more INT's than TD's. that's when to be concerned, but now, hey you have to play the games to prove someone. remember all the guns we've had that didn't work out.
