Get ready for another weekend of slow, sluggish driving on I-5 northbound through South Seattle.
“We are closing three out of the five lanes between 5th Ave. S/Albro Place and the West Seattle freeway,” says Broch Bender with the Washington State Department of Transportation. “What that means is we need 60 percent of drivers to take an alternate route.”
Crews are wrapping up a project to replace four worn out expansion joints.
Bender says a good alternate many drivers failed to use during last weekend’s closure is SR 599 to northbound 99. The WSDOT says another good route is northbound I-405 to westbound I-90
The northbound lane closures begin Friday at 8:00 p.m. and last until Monday, April 8 at 5:00 a.m.
The WSDOT says it’ll be providing drivers with extra information on Twitter, overhead message boards, and on 511.
