A 17-year-old boy was shot in the chest overnight outside a White Center mini-mart.

The shooting happened in the 11400 block of 16th Avenue Southwest, where it turns into Ambaum Boulevard Southwest, KIRO 7 reports.

The King County sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene at 12:20 a.m. Thursday. They found the teenager lying unconscious in the parking lot of the Rainbow Mart with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was transported to the hospital.

A group of people at the scene scattered when deputies arrived.

A K-9 unit was called to the scene to search for possible suspects. It is unclear if anyone was taken into custody, but the search has since been called off.
