There will be strong representation from top tier Seattle foodies at a charity event being hosted by highly regarded Northwest chef, and current Best Chef: Northwest James Beard nominee, Ethan Stowell.

“Because we’re involved, there’s a big food pavilion and we’ve got some of the best chefs in Seattle coming out and helping out,” says Stowell. “I personally feel like it’s the best lineup of chefs of any of the events each year.”

Stowell gave KIRO Radio’s Let’s Eat a rundown of the notable Northwest restaurants that will be on site at his second annual Eat. Run. Hope. charity fun run.

“There’s Dot’s Delicatessen, there’s Tom Douglas, there’s Il Corvo, there’s Terra Plata, there’s Poppy, there’s Hitchcock, there’s Revel, there’s La Bete, there’s Poquitos, there’s Taste, Canlis, the Wandering Goose and Huxley Wallace Collective, and us doing it as well,” says Stowell.

And food won’t be reserved to the food pavilion. Somehow bacon made its way into the running events with a bacon-baton relay kicking off the day.

“It’s pretty entertaining to watch everybody run with this baton,” says Stowell. “Usually the first person who goes, the bacon is pretty solid, it’s pretty cold and it’s not that big of a deal, but by the fifth person it gets cooked by body heat, it’s pretty funny.”

Proceeds from the event will go to the Fetal Health Foundation, that serves families and medical facilities that work with babies diagnosed with intrauterine fetal syndromes.

Stowell says it wasn’t hard to convince his fellow chefs to turn out for the cause.

“It feels great to call up some of your friends and say, ‘Hey, will you be a part of this and help us out?’ Every single time it takes 10 minutes, and they’re all super supportive,” says Stowell. “It feels really good when it only takes 10 minutes to get people on board.”

Eat. Run. Hope will begin at 9:45 a.m. Sunday, April 14 at Seward Park.

Participants interested in attending the event can register at eatrunhope.com. Those that choose both to eat and run can save off the admission to both portions of the event. But space in the eating tent is limited, so get registrations in before space is gone.

Hear KIRO Radio’s Let’s Eat on KIRO Radio Saturdays at 4 p.m. and Sundays at noon. Also available anytime ON DEMAND at KIRORadio.com.
