A protest march through downtown Seattle Friday afternoon could snarl afternoon traffic.

Organizers say they expect between 100 and 300 people to rally peacefully on what’s being called “International Day Against Police Brutality.”

“The purpose and intention of this event is to demand the same accountability standards for our law enforcement officers as is expected from the citizens who they are sworn to protect,” said organizer Melvin Neifert in a statement. “Our beautiful community demands to be complemented by a noble police force and condemns the acts of murder and excessive violence that have occurred,” he said.

The group plans to rally at City Hall Park at 3:00 p.m. before marching to Seattle Police headquarters and on to Westlake Park before ending with another rally at Seattle Center.

The Seattle Department of Transportation is warning of traffic delays along the march route starting at 4:00 p.m.
