Kris Brannon was returning home Monday morning when he realized someone was stealing the Seattle SuperSonics apparel that has helped make him so recognizable, and, more importantly, his dead father’s ring.
“I saw the bike and I saw a bunch of clothes hangers and I thought, ‘Oh, this isn’t good,” he told KIRO 7.
Brannon, better known as the “Sonics Guy” trying to bring an NBA team back to Seattle, tried to stop the man from leaving his house while he waited for Tacoma police to arrive. The burglar got away before help arrived.
It didn’t take long for a gofundme.com page to be setup for Brannon. By 7 a.m. on Tuesday — less than 24 hours after the page was setup — people had donated more than $6,000.
Losing his dad's ring is what @sonicsguy regrets most about having his home ransacked. @KIRO7Seattle 5 pic.twitter.com/RKnK7BeTiv
