The English bulldog, Jagger, disappeared from the driveway of a Woodland, Wash. home on Oct. 5, 2011. He was later found dead.

A Kelso man who stole a dog in a failed ransom plot has been sentenced to more than three years in prison.

The sentence follows the conviction of 39-year-old Jesse Clark of extortion and possessing stolen property.

The English bulldog, Jagger, disappeared from the driveway of a Woodland, Wash. home on Oct. 5, 2011. The dog’s owner, Jennifer Thomas said she saw a man and a woman in her driveway just before she noticed the dog was missing.

Cowlitz County Chief Deputy Corey Huffine told KIRO Radio in 2011 about the ransom demand that the victim got on her cell phone.

“The person was demanding that if she wanted her dog back she had to deliver her prescription medications as well as a $1,000,” said Huffine.

Jagger was found dead near railroad tracks a few days after the messages were sent.

Two other people involved in the plot were sentenced previously in the case.
