There may be a few more familiar faces around Seattle this weekend as stars of TV, film and comics turn out for Emerald City Comicon.

There will be Star Trek captains, X-Files investigators and zombie killers. Michael Rooker, who plays villain/hero Merle Dixon, on the AMC hit “The Walking Dead” is excited to see fan faces instead of zombie ones at his appearance this weekend.

“My favorite aspect is interacting and greeting the fans,” Rooker tells 770 KTTH host David Boze. “We get people from everywhere and it’s really a lot of fun.”

The hit AMC drama has been his big gig of late. But Rooker says that wasn’t actually the plan.

“I came in there sort of a la carte. I thought I was going to be doing one or two, possibly three episodes and then moving on. I’ve done that before with television, just sort of a hired gun,” says Rooker. “But you do your job, you do it the best you can, and sometimes people like you. So they enjoyed my performance and wanted to see more of me.”

Rooker won’t be the only member of “The Walking Dead” cast on site at Emerald City Comicon. Danai Gurira, who plays sword-wielding Michonne will also be appearing Saturday and Sunday.

Other celebrity guests in attendance include Gillian Anderson from “The X-Files,” Kristin Bauer from “True Blood,” and Christopher Lloyd of “Back to the Future” fame. View the full list of guests at the Comicon website.

Emerald City Comicon will be going on March 1-3 at the Washington State Convention Center.
