When you think of romantic spots in our fair state, do you think of a kiss at the top of Columbia Tower? A stroll down the quaint streets of Leavenworth after a snowfall? A hike in the woods outside of North Bend?

Maybe you’d be surprised that according to Seattle-based Amazon, the most romantic cities in Washington state are Everett and Vancouver.

Here’s how they decided those two cities would be among the 20 most romantic cities in the country: Based on the sales of romance novels and relationship books, romantic comedy movies, a collection of romantic music from Dean Martin, Barry White, Luther Vandross, Maxwell and Miguel, along with sexual wellness products those two cities made the cut.

1. Knoxville, Tenn. 11. Round Rock, Texas
2. Alexandria, Va. 12. Clearwater, Fla.
3. Miami, Fla. 13. Las Vegas, Nev.
4. Orlando, Fla. 14. Salem, Ore.
5. Cincinnati, Ohio 15. Erie, Pa.
6. Vancouver, Wash. 16. Everett, Wash.
7. Dayton, Ohio 17. Rochester, N.Y.
8. Murfreesboro, Tenn. 18. Clarksville, Tenn.
9. Columbia, S.C. 19. Tallahassee, Fla.
10. Pittsburgh, Pa. 20. Billings, Mont.

Amazon called them the most romantic – but I’m not sure about that.

Basing the title of ‘most romantic’ on a place because of their secret purchases of “50 Shades of Grey” (I’m looking at you, Kindle-wielding mom’s of Everett) or the amount of times “When Harry Met Sally” was rented from an Amazon Instant account in Vancouver, seems questionable.

Of course, the results are suspect, but as Valentine’s Day approaches, we can assume one thing about both Vancouver and Everett.

If you’re going to be alone on Valentine’s Day, you have your comforts ready. You have your books, and your music (and probably some candles and bubble bath) set up for a lovely evening.

Leave the fancy dinners to Seattle, the romantic hikes to North Bend, and sidewalk strolls holding hands to Leavenworth.

Alyssa is sure that there are romantic spots all over Washington state, even in Everett and Vancouver.
