Man hit by bus walks to Starbucks, tries to order coffee

Jan 8, 2013, 10:24 AM | Updated: 1:39 pm

The Seattle Fire Department says a man who was hit by a bus downtown got up and walked a block to a Starbucks, even though he was bleeding from the head.

“About 10:20 this morning we got a call from the Starbucks at 4th and Pine. There was an individual inside the Starbucks that was bleeding profusely and was attempting to make kind of incoherent coffee orders,” says Kyle Moore with the Seattle Fire Department.

Moore says the well-dressed 32-year-old man apparently wasn’t making a lot of sense when firefighters arrived.

“He had suffered what apparently was a concussion which would lead to him not making a lot of sense,” says Moore.

The man was taken to Harborview Medical Center with serious injuries.

A police drug recognition officer determined the bus driver showed signs of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol, so he was arrested. The driver gave a blood sample and was released, pending test results.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
