Microsoft partnering with NORAD for Santa tracker

Dec 12, 2012, 9:52 AM | Updated: 10:07 am

NORAD is partnering with Microsoft for the first time this year in their 50-year tradition of tracking Santa Claus.

The Santa tracker tool this year is built on the Microsoft Windows Azure cloud platform using Bing maps.

The Seattle Times reports prior to the new partnership with Microsoft, NORAD had partnered with Google for the tracker.

The Santa tracker website at noradsanta.org is now live with games and a countdown clock to the big day.

Nearly 25 million people around the world are expected to check in on the big guy’s travel through the tracker.

The official Santa tracking will begin at 12 a.m. on Dec. 24, where web visitors can watch Santa get ready for his flight.

The Santa tracker is also available as an app for various devices.
