Needless Negativity

Of all the disappointments associated with Barack Obama's leadership, the most painful involves the president's failure to bring us together in national unity and common purpose. While Obama apologists prefer to blame Republicans for the bitterness and polarization in Washington, the president's reelection campaign tells a different story. Any undecided or wavering voters should confront a crucial question: Which campaign—Obama's or Romney's—has focused more fiercely on harshly negative messages?

While Romney has criticized his opponent's record as president, Obama has emphasized the other candidate's allegedly bad character and purported desire to play by "different rules" in his private life. Two weeks before Election Day the president even described Romney's approach as a "disease" that should be "fixed up" by Obamacare. Americans who long for more positive, less decisive politics have only one real choice on November 6th.

    Really?
"While Obama apologists prefer to blame Republicans for the bitterness and polarization in Washington...." The following goal is Mitch McConnell's most important goal if he becomes Senate Majority Leader. “The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president.” ~Mitch McConnell, Senate Minority Leader, (R-Ky.), October 2010

half baked - did you expect McConnell to ENDORSE Obama ?
Throughout American history - starting with our 2nd president, John Adams, it has been the primary goal of the 'outs' to make the 'ins' a one term whatever. Mayor, president or dog catcher, it's kinda the nature of politics.

Let me know if I've missed something, but no president - no matter HOW effective or beloved - is so good that the other side says 'let's pass on replacing this guy'.

Please, get real. Once Romney wins, the goal of the democrats will be his defeat in 2016.

Actually, I agree with your point. However, the intent of my quoting McConnell was in response to Medved's typical "Obama can do nothing right, and is responsible for all that's wrong.." statement: "Of all the disappointments associated with Barack Obama's leadership, the most painful involves the president's failure to bring us together in national unity and common purpose. While Obama apologists prefer to blame Republicans for the bitterness and polarization in Washington..." So. consider me "gotten real". Oh, and I am never half baked. Once I begin getting baked, I make sure I am fully baked before finishing.

What's with all of the stuttering before throwing out the divisive comments? 'Igotta Igotta Igotta...' or 'We We We We...' or 'This this this guy...' usually followed by some zinger like "Romnesia". It reminds me of that famous cartoon pig- that' all folks.

Four years of Republitards constantly calling Obama a Nazi-Socialist-Commie and suddenly Obama is the only one being negative.

Personally I think the Dems are being way too easy on Dumney and the lyin Ryan.

Should Dumney get elected I expect the Dems in congress to do everything in their power to make sure he is a one-term failure of a president. A Democrat compromising with Dumney and the Republicons is a sin worse than murder. I will of course blame Dumney for his failure to work across the aisle.

I'm a little conflicted on this election. On the one hand if Obama wins Ha Ha laughing boy will almost certainly jump off a bridge. But on the other hand if Dumney wins I get to spend the next four years bashing Mitler and lyin Ryan. I guess I win either way.

The race card. It's the lowest one in the deck for good reason. It's base. It's an unprovable conspiracy theory. It's unimaginative. It's easier than something substantive. It makes one feel morally superior. It's a cheap way to make those less confident in their opinion worry about appearance. For the most part, race works in the opposite direction for President Obama. Some want to be a part of history for electing our first black president, irregardless of his background or philosophy. What other candidate has received 97% of the black vote?

Easy Garafolo. What the h-e-double-toothpicks does that have to do with anything? Do we have to serve the penance of having a tax-and-spender at the helm because the overwhelming majority of the talent pool is white? Would you be appeased if Herman Cain, Colin Powell or Thomas Sowell were the Republican nominees? My original beef was with Forrest getting mentally lazy and throwing out that despicable race card where it (as usual) wasn't deserved.

    Obama...
...is the most divisive POTUS in at least a generation, and is unable and unwilling to even attempt to reach across the aisle.

Even Clinton was able to work with Gingrich after the Republican Revolution and their Contract with America. Obama would rather call his opposition names like a petulant little middle schooler. Just like certain posters on this thread.

No wonder Clinton called Obama an "amateur". He's by far the least qualified person ever to be elected to POTUS. And he's as thin-skinned as Nixon...but without the experience or qualifications.

"He's by far the least qualified person ever to be elected to POTUS." That statement made me choke as my coffee went through my nose. When compared to Dubyah, (who, I might add, seems to have never existed based on how often the Republican party even mentions his or Cheney's name), Obama is Winston Churchill.

" A man originally reported to have been working for the Republican Party of Virginia was arrested by the Rockingham County, Va., Sheriff’s Office on Thursday and charged with attempting to destroy voter registration forms by tossing them into a dumpster behind a shopping center in Harrisonburg, Va..... The man arrested today was 23-year-old Colin Small of Phoenixville, Pa. As it turns out, he does not only work for the Virginia Republican Party. According to an online profile, he appears to be working for the Republican National Committee and, prior to that, served as an Intern for Rep. Mike Kelly, R-Pa., in the U.S. House of Representatives. Joseph Tanfani at the Los Angeles Times is reporting that Small was “working as a supervisor as part of a registration operation in eight swing states financed by the Republican National Committee.” See, I can find instances of Republicans accused of crimes! This MUST prove that ALL Republicans are criminals! Some of you folks really crack me up.

From what I could tell the forms were blanks. Do you really think throwing away blank registration forms by someone associated with the republican party is on par with the democrat of the year robbing a 71 year old developmentally disabled woman?! Apparently not...just more of that democrat war against women, the aged and the develomentally disabled.

How evil does a person have to be to rob a developmentally disabled senior? And how evil does the democrat party have to be to single out that woman as a superior representation of the democrat party. Sorry, but some idiot throwing away some forms isn't near on part with the evil that is rampant in the democrat party.

That number, is this still with the oversample of likey 2008 useful idiot voters? I am sure that it is. The only chance your Dear Leader has to win is if the deck is slanted in his direction. It this a fair straight up election Romney wins and in a landslide.

The regime can only hope that left wing voter fraud and any other way that they can manufacture vote will keep Obama close enough to drag the election into the courts and hopefully the nearest Liberal dominated court and give it to Obama.

So that number you pulled out of your sphincter hole in your Butt isn't flying with us Americans. Actually it has us far more charged up and motivated to vote to chance all this next week!

    And so we shall!
