Good News for GOP: The Party of Grownups

Buried within dismal election night tallies, conservatives can find some encouraging numbers. Sixty percent of all American voters were married, and married people chose Romney overwhelmingly, 56 to 42 percent.

Meanwhile, voters in households making more than $50,000 a year - a full 59 percent of the electorate - also went Republican by a big margin of 8 percent. And a full 78 percent of voters identify themselves as Christian-Protestant or Catholic - preferring Mitt Romney by more than 10 percent.

So how did Obama win? By piling up big majorities of the single, the poor, and the twelve percent who say they have no religion - all characteristics primarily of the young. But most people don't want to stay single, poor and irreligious as they get older, so the GOP remains the party of grownups and the American dream - a dream that's still overwhelmingly popular.

All these arguments about the supposed differences between dems and gop are laughable.
The results of their policies are effectively identical. They have both been purchased. Presidents come and go, the thing that never changes are the financial elite behind the scenes that create the policy.

You voted for Obama? Guess what... You voted for corporate bailouts, concentration of wealth into the hands of a few, loss of liberty, and endless war. But hey, you won! Those other guys with the red hats voting for the same thing lost. Yea team!

The two major political philosophies could not be farther apart. I think what you mean, and what other's obviously miss, is that party politics get in the way and cloud the obvious differences. Perhaps we can all agree that party politics (self-serving agendas and the natural growth of power and government that historically and naturally result from it) is the obstruction between the individual and liberty. BTW, it annoys me that Obama now says he has a mandate....what a crock...congress had landslide victories at all levels of government in 2010, which is more reflective of the people's mandate. Obama won because of distortions, a good ground-game, the MSM, emotions, cult of personality, and race....and NOT on his record or agenda. We will rue the day, folks...

In 2010 Republicans won their majority after redrawing House district lines to their advantage. Claiming a mandate is lunacy (but then I expect no less from you). Republicans lost seats overall and lost the popular vote by nearly 3 million. That's no mandate, that's legitimate rape.

Good point, (which is why I voted for Jill Stein). Protest votes are just that. As long as the Democrats and Republicans conspire together to keep out presidential candidates of third parties, I will not vote for their Presidential candidates.
