Tribalism, Not Religious Faith

A recent story from Pakistan highlights the utter depravity of Muslim extremists who threaten all civilized societies. India recently executed Mohammed Kasab, the lone surviving gunmen in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks that slaughtered 160 civilians.

This was India's first execution in 15 years, and the condemned killer admitted his role in the killings. Nevertheless, the Pakistani Taliban vowed revenge, promising the group would launch new bloody assaults to get "justice" for their dead comrade. They also demanded return of his body to Pakistan for "honorable" Islamic burial.

But in Islamic law, mass murderer of innocents clearly earns the death penalty. This illustrates the true nature of Islamo-Nazism: it's not an expression of some serious religious principles but pure tribalism and barbarity, where a member of "the tribe" should escape consequences for his actions, no matter how evil.

It is downright scary when Medved writes something that I agree with. It's nice to see a right wing idealogue express rational, non-rhetoric driven speech. It's quite refreshing and quite wonderful. Except where he uses merges 'Islam' and 'Nazi' to define these fantics. They have nothing in common with the way Nazi's did thier evil upon the world. Nazi Germany was a country, a political organization and as such they did pervert thier politics into a war of atrocities. But the only thing they have in common is atrocities committed in thier name. These islamic-extremists who pervert thier religion to fit thier own ideals commit this violence indiscriminately, capriciously and for an oddly defined vengance against any others who dare to offend them. Again - nothing like the Nazis. I get tired of people using Nazi's as the boogey man comparison to anything and everything 'of the day' - whether it's done as a cheap and easy way to define someone or something as evil and vile or when it's used to simply voice displeasure with politicians and/or political groups...

Michale, it is hartening to have you recognize that true Islam condemnes such slaughter.
But, much too ofter, others (and, a time or two, yourself) equate any excess of radical Islam with the teachings of the Koran. ... Propaganda for the sake of hatred.

I'm sure you know of the 'Protocols of the Elders of Zion'. Let not an Islamic version ever be believes, lest published.

    Plenty of Tribal examples..........
Let's not forget Zionist Baruch Goldstein's mass murder Tribalism in Hebron or Catholic Timothy McVeigh's Tribalism in Oklahoma city. Medved is at his WORST -when he gets ethnocentric.

Cigar guy - McVeigh was no more a Catholic than Hitler.
Birth religion does not stay with you for life, especially when you renounce it - as both Hitler and MCveigh did.

Otherwise, I agree on Michael's biases. That's why THIS post was especially refreshing.

    No cigar for this one.
Okay, so McVeigh may have been raised Catholic and was confirmed (and how many others at age 12, or so?). But, in his own words, 'lost touch' when he was in the military. ... And he viewed the Church as 'out of touch' with his beliefs.

Hardly a practicing Catholic. ... And hardly anyone who killed in the name of the Church. .......... Perhaps, cigar guy, if YOU stopped your own blind hate occasionally ...................

PS: So far as the last rites are concerned, they are afforded anyone who requests. Even a non-Catholic. The idea and the faith is that - no matter what the sin - GOD offers forgiveness - even to the very end.

Let's leave your detour to the next life. The point is...that all religions have bad behaviours, even christianity -whether in Kansas, Salem witch trials or Spanish Inquisitions.

  • ron prevost wrote...
Yes, all have had 'bad behaviour' , but most are overwhelmingly forces for good
and FOR humanity. And most people adhere to a faith - even I'll include secular humanism - because of the good. ... Not any alliegance to past evils.

My original point is that it's good for Michael to actually realize this about Islam.

In your reflexive rush to bad-mouth Michael Medved and Jews, you skipped over the main point of the article: Mike's beef was with those kindred spirits of Kasab, and their cries for justice and vengeance in spite of his atrocities. Neither Goldstein or McVeigh had such a backing.

Baruch's problem was Zionism, not Judaism. I said that MEDVED is at his worst when he gets ethnocentric. Assassinations by Israel are the modern day form of "backing" In addition to the occupation, apartheid and blockade/siege and ethnic cleansing of Palestine, as recently Highlighted by UK PM David Cameron and former US president Jimmy Carter (during the most recent events).

However, you may purchase male or female slaves from among the foreigners who live among you. You may also purchase the children of such resident foreigners, including those who have been born in your land. You may treat them as your property, passing them on to your children as a permanent inheritance. You may treat your slaves like this, but the people of Israel, your relatives, must never be treated this way.
