Heights of Hollywood Hypocrisy

In a recent internet ad, a posse of A-list Hollywood celebrities led by Jamie Foxx, Will Ferrell, Jennifer Aniston and Cameron Diaz conveyed the message "We Demand a Plan" - insisting that the president should outline a new program to "end gun violence."

Of course, no governmental action could ever end gun violence, or even begin to confiscate the 300 million firearms in private hands. Moreover, the hypocrisy of the Hollywood crowd is breathtaking: an anonymous internet post interposed their earnest pleas for gun regulation with scenes from their own movies featuring graphic, often sadistic, gun violence.

Rather than demanding a plan from the president to impose new rules on others, how about imposing a new rule on themselves-- taking a public pledge never again to participate in projects using sadism, murder and mayhem as forms of entertainment.

I must have missed those movies.

As usual the hypocrisy is Mr. Medved, faking outrage at liberals.

It's amazing that Medved dares to call anyone on hypocracy when he himself spews such hypocracy on a nearly constant basis.... Except I guess that it's ok because it's hypocracy aimed at liberals/dems/lefties/etc. so in his mind (and other fellow demented from the right wing), it's not actually hypocracy because nothing is ever untrue when it's said by a demented person that happens to be from the right wing.... (No, I'm not calling everyone who's right wing as demented. Just the ones who constantly twist facts out of recognition, lie, cheat, steal and worse to show 'proof' that the 'other guys' are evil and only 'they' are allowed to be right).

Could you be a little more specfic on Michael Medved's supposed "hypocracy", and state some references, you know where you get your information and how you developed you thought process on the matter.Just another right wing wacko who thinks the Left is leading this country in the wrong direction. Thanks

It's simple raymong - go read any two of Medved's columns. Go do actual research on the facts, data and quotes he pretends to use. Take them in context, unfiltered by liberal or conservative talking heads. Then compare them to the way that Medved uses them. You'll find that they are so frequently distorted, misused, twisted out of context so badly that they don't even represent what actually was said or found in polls that they barely resemble the truth any longer. ANY column that mentions Obama can be guaranteed to be a one sided, distorted hatched job. There's so many cases where he does a 'Fox News' to the facts that it's impossible for anyone except the right wing politically blind can see them from a mile away.

That is why he goes on so many shows, gives so many speaches. u just cant accept someone who has a different view point. Also MM has a very high IQ and I think whent to Oxford after yale.

I'd honestly like to know what you believe are examples of Michael's hypocrisy (e.g. instances where Michael believes one way, but acts another). You may think Michael is dead wrong, but making his voice heard consistent with his views doesn't necessarily make him a hypocrite.

    confusion
The left are confused as to the real meaning of Hypocrisy. To them it means "anyone who doesn't believe as I do and lives in their world is a hypocrite" simply because they don't understand how someone can live in their world and not be,do,act, believe and think as they do. Someone that lets his yes be yes and his no be no, is lost on them.

    Hollywood on guns

Will Ferrell's character in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back shot a gun. Cameron Diaz' character shot a gun in Knight and Day. Aniston? I don't know, she's a terrible actress. Jamie Foxx's character has shot guns plenty of times

There is an important keyword in the above paragraph, and that is character. Therefore I do not think that it is completely just to call people hypocrites who advocate for gun control while using guns in their movies. The two scenarios are entirely different. It may be more hypocritical if, say, they are advocating for gun control while having personal bodyguards with guns, but even that is only borderline hypocritical. I'm sick of seeing pictures of the President surrounded by armed secret service agents, with headlines reading "President Wants Gun Control but is Surrounded by People with Guns?". Jeez people, he's the President! Hypocritical is owning and using guns but saying other people cannot own or use them

Michael, I get your point in your last paragraph, but I just don't think we can draw a definitive connection between TV and video game violence and any of these recent shootings. Video games and movies did not put the guns in the hands of these criminals. That's where gun control advocates need to focus their energy.

    Hypocritical
The logical way to protect the president from bad men is to surround him with good men with guns...but somehow it's outragious to suggest the we should protect our children from bad men by having good men with guns protecting them????? WHY-? To me it sounds like Hollywood and Political elites with body guards telling the taxpayers they can't do what "WE" do. I suppose if you are of the mind set that they are the Royal WE instead of public servants it all makes sense.

James Yeager, chief executive officer of Tactical Response
said in a YouTube video if Obama passes any gun laws he would go on a killing spree.

Now James Yeager didn't say whether he'd go on his killing spree at a grade school, movie theater or shopping mall, but I'm guessing he'll be targeting the school.

Now Tennessee just suspended Yeager's carry permit, but I don't think that will stop a psychopath like James Yeager.
