Why Obama Hides Good News on Guns

The president's passion for gun control leaves him oddly unwilling to claim credit for one of the few signs of progress during his first term. After four years of Obama, poverty and food stamps are up, middle class incomes are down, while debt and deficits soared to record levels.

Rates of violent crime, however, continued their long decline, reduced by 13 percent since the last year of President Bush. In the last 20 years, the murder rate has been cut in half, but President Obama won't acknowledge this good news because it undermines his efforts to alarm the public about a non-existent surge in gun violence, justifying meddlesome restrictions on law-abiding firearms owners.

It's understandable that the president ignores the bad news from his first term, but it's outrageous that he won't acknowledge the dramatic successes in stopping crime.

    GOP vs Obama
"Poverty and food stamps are up, middle class incomes are down, while debt and deficits soared to record levels". Now imagine how these same poor would be treated if the GOP had their way.

    cigarfan.....The GOP
would have had the economy turned around quicker and more people back to work so they would not need food stamps. Middle class incomes would grow due to job growth and competition for the best employees. And we wouldn't have added the largest ever 4 year deficit to uour nations debt and saddleing our kids with the finacial burden of liberal government.

What are you talking about. The Republitards would have turned the U.S. into a 3rd world country.
If the Republitards would have been controlling the government in 2009 they would have let the big banks collapse, which would have caused the medium sized banks to collapse which would have caused the small banks to collapse which would have lead to the FDIC going bankrupt long before most people got any of their savings account back. Then not only the automotive industry would have gone under but all businesses would have failed because they can't operate these days without a banking system leading to 100% unemployment, riots, widespread looting, murderous rampages by NRA types, starvation and eventually cannibalism.

I don't see how that would have been an improvement over where we are today.

And you think printing 80 billion worthless dollars a month and tossing uncounted trillions to foreign banks and multinational corporations has 'fixed' it?

    BWAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! -what a tool-

"_riots, widespread looting, murderous rampages by NRA types_"

Sorry, but those are all thieving cowardly liberal problems. When they run out of Obama money and their welfare checks won't cash, some of them will have enough balls to try and steal in person instead of using government to do it for them.

NRA types will be guarding their gardens, raising their chickens, and clinging to their bibles and guns. Murderous rampages are generally a waste of expensive ammo and liberals are the wrong kind of manure for composting. So, not likely.

    "_starvation and eventually cannibalism."

    At least there's an upside...

    Besides.......
What does any of that nonsense have to do with Obama not telling the truth about the delcine in violent crime in the last 20 years - which is what the story was about?

To answer your question...if you look at the first sentence in my response, you'll notice quotation marks. This is a reference to what Medved originally said. IF your last response was actually to Medved, -Mea culpa.

You're aware that the AR-15 supposedly 'used' in the Sandy Hook shooting was found in the trunk of the car after the crime was committed and the perp was dead, right?
