Partisan politics and the dubious deal with Iran

In the ongoing debate over the pending nuclear deal with Iran, one side is practicing purely partisan politics – and it’s not the Republicans.
Democrats are deeply divided on this issue, and many of those supporting the president have admitted, privately, that they’re doing so out of loyalty to Mr. Obama, and in order to prevent their party from suffering a shattering defeat.
The Republicans, on the other hand, are totally united – even Senator Rand Paul, hardly a hard-liner when it comes to Middle East issues, is working hard to defeat the deal.
The attempt by the administration and its allies to impute partisan purposes to its opponents also does nothing to explain one of the most outspoken critics of the dubious agreement: Prime Minister Netanyahu of Israel.
The real reason to defeat the administration’s appeasement is national security, not politics: it weakens America when a hostile power like Iran gets everything it wants, and we get virtually nothing in return.
