How Is Romney "Out of Step" with American Values?

In a campaign speech in Exeter, New Hampshire, Vice President Joe Biden attacked Mitt Romney as "out of step with American values."

This is an outrageous charge that demands a direct challenge from fair-minded sources in the media. In what way does Mitt Romney fail to honor American values? His family life has been exemplary: 42 years of marriage with five married sons and sixteen grandchildren. He gives prodigiously to charity, with no hint of impropriety in either his business or political careers. Does Romney violate "American values" just because he's rich?

In fact, Americans have always honored the goal of creating wealth through hard work and honest effort-as did Romney. Biden and Obama are actually more out of step with traditional American values, through their support for bigger government, more dependency, and less individual accountability.

And a happy almost Earth Day to all of you. I say that because tomorrow is actually the day that officially marks the occasion. But the truth is we're here kicking off an entire Earth Week. And I hope our administration has kicked off an entire earth administration. -Joe Biden

    It is ironic
I think it is Ironic that 2 people who never worked a day in their lives (Obama and Biden) are getting millions of dollars from another group of people who never work and hate the working class(Hollywood) are telling us Mitt Romney is out of touch. I can't wait to see Obama lose (I would use another word for this but I don't need the secret Service questioning me because some member of the ACLU is offended and can't counter the argument) in the debates. What does he have on his record to defend? The Buffett rule? Why didn't he go for this when he had the majoritues in both houses? Oh all of a sudden he pours on teh calss warfare...You know Obama should really check his history because this French War Strategy he is using didn't pan out that well for them in WW2.

If, by "gold plated monuments" you mean "LDS Humanitarian Services" that have poured hundreds of millions in money and commodoties into 150 countries over the years, then you are right on the mark. But I get the feeling that your attention can't be held by the mundane acts of feeding and clothing thousands, so enjoy your class envy.

Converting more to "the faith" has nothing to do with it?

If there were a "Manchurian Candidate" running in this election, I'd say it was the guy who straps dogs to the roof of his car.

    that WAS our parents' goal
For those of us in the Baby Boomer generation, (as the slightly young Mitt Romney), it was the hope and dream of out parents that WE should never suffer and struggle as they did during the Depression. My parents helped me get started, and most of us to some degree or another. George Romney was just in a stronger position to help his kid. ......... But I don't think that help hurt our work ethic.

    Obviously out of step
When consider that "American" values have been on the decline and under constant assault by "progressives" since the 60's (I'd say stumbling) any potential leader who isn't also stumbling is out of step.

    Missing the mark
Boy, I sure am glad I don't have to waste my time debating with any of you. You've all missed the mark. First, consider the source: Biden is a bag of hot air. He's got no substance. He's an empty polititian with about as much value as a gnat. Second, because of that emptiness, it is better to discuss the facts about American values and who really is in step with them. Quit this useless and unproductive bickering and stick to the issue.
