Obama's Most Dangerous Promise

In a lengthy piece comparing the Obama campaign of 2012 to his triumphant 2008 campaign, the Wall Street Journal reported that the president told aides that his most important first term mistake involved his efforts to work with Republicans and he promised he'd never repeat that mistake in the future.

Ironically, a simultaneous report indicated the president's plans to spend less time campaigning for Congressional Democrats, in view of fading prospects for his party to recapture the House. In other words, Obama insists he won't try to work with Republicans even while his own campaign acknowledges the GOP is likely to hold the House. This guarantees more gridlock if Obama wins-a good thing, perhaps, in preventing disastrous legislative initiatives, but a very dangerous situation with America speeding directly toward fiscal crisis with burgeoning debt and looming national bankruptcy.

And as any sense of reality seems to be leaving, the president seems to be morphing from the Wizard of Oz to Caligula. .. Do we next get a Praetorian Guard?

But as far as congressional democrats are concerned, they'll probable have better chances as long as Obama does NOT campaign for them.

Good. Kick the GOP to the curb.
The GOP blatantly abused the filibuster. They did significantly more filibusters than any other congress in history, all to deny Obama and the Dems any kind of victory. They threaten to default our credit rating if they didn't get their way on all spending cuts and no tax increases.

    That's how children play.

It's time Obama and the Dems give them a taste of their own medicine.

If republicans openly planned to establish a dicatorship the left would be caterwauling...that progressives are actually encouraging a dicatorship says volumes. You don't like congress doing their jobs then vote them out and replace them.

but Obama shouldn't just kick the GOP to the curb. In a national emergency he can arrest them with Executive Order and confiscate their property. He can initiate the emergency with a financial meltdown. This would be the patriotic thing for him to do so that we can rid the country of right wing opposition to his dreams for us. All of the government agencies now have stockpiled enough ammo to accomplish this cleansing.

Obama promised he will have more flexibility in his second term
He will finally be able to finalize his father's dream for the USofKKK. He won't need Congress to do it. He has the power of Executive Order. The President's EO authority is even greater when we are at war, so a just war may be helpful to rid the US of right wingers. FDR issued Executive Order No. 9066 that forced 100,000 Japanese residents in the United States to be rounded up and placed in concentration camps. The property of the Japanese was confiscated. He could do the same to the teabaggers. Once Republicans see what can happen to them, they will be more cooperative.

    Fer instance: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/07/22/us/politics/22fiscal.html

Obama and leading Republicans came very close to resolving some of the budget problems. Obama was willing to cut spending, including social programs, if the Republicans would go along with a modest tax increase. Republican leaders, like Boehner, were pretty much on board *until* they were taken to the woodshed by their party superiors.

"What the heck are you doing? First of all, Grover Nordquist will bury you, politically, if you agree to any budget solution that raises taxes for anybody even one cent! We want and need this budget crisis! Don't work with Obama to try to solve it! It's our way back into the White House in 2012."

Chuck you remember the TEA, Tax Enough Already, Party? We Americans sent them there not to compromise with the regime but to stop the promised Obama tax increases. Those people were only doing what we told them to do. Or not to do!

HAHA, self government by a free people will always involve compromise
What you think you want is as important (to you) as what somebody else thinks they want is important (to them). Our form of government works when the people find a way to resolve differences and craft a solution where nobody gets everything they want, but nobody gets sent home completely empty handed.

If we can't do that, we will wind up with a "strong man" who will impose *his* (or her) will on the rest of us. Been there, done that, decided against it back in 1776.

If you value democracy, learn to accept compromise. It's how people with differing agendas and priorities move forward, there is no other way.
