Obama's Fading Likeability

Supporters of Barack Obama insist that issues don't matter because the president will win re-election on the strength of "likeability." But this theory ignores the drastic decline in Obama's personal appeal: in October, 2008, leading polls showed the public viewed him more positively than negatively by a margin of 17 points; now that edge is only 6 points, as Obama's personal negatives soared from 35 to 42 percent.

This gives him negative ratings much higher than Al Gore or John McCain, both of whom lost; and near identical to Mitt Romney, who's been smeared by attack ads and harsh media treatment. Four years ago, even with his hope and change mystique, Barack Obama won only 52.9 percent of the popular vote and this year, with much less personal popularity, he shouldn't come close to that number.

    Amusing use of English
In one case 6 points is "only" but in the other the word "soar" is used for 7 points.

"Only" 52.9? Some circles use numbers like that in the same sentence as "mandate".

    Wow. That is so unfair.

Good thing that nobody in the media (including conservative talk) has ever attacked Obama or treated him harshly.

How unfair that the left will attack Romney, while everybody on the right remains perfectly civil and wouldn't say anything rude, untrue, or harsh about Obama.

All you Lefty's forget what happened in the 2010 elections when all the polls were favoring the Democrats and then there was a bloodbath in Congress. This November the American people will finish the job and put the grown ups back in charge of the country. Obama is an incompetent FAILURE!

Why do the poor and middle class support Obama with news like this?
    Source:

    http://www.sentierresearch.com/reports/Sentier_Household_Income_Trends_Report_August2012_09_25_12.pdf

Median household incomes have fallen 8.2 percent since President Obama took office and continue to drop despite the official end of the recession, a new study shows.

Data compiled by Sentier Research found that since the economic recovery technically began in June 2009, median household income has dropped 5.7 percent. As of August, that median income was $50,678 -- also down 1.1 percent from the month prior.

And since Obama took office in January 2009, the median income has fallen 8.2 percent, from $55,198 to its present figure.

But the leftists are still supporting Obama, when all indicators show he does NOT care about the poor or middle class. Why is this?

    @Rick(4)
I wouldn't say Leftists are supporting Obama, I would say Democrats and some indies are. Leftists are anti-capitalist and do not support candidates of capitalist parties like the Republicans or Democrats. (They would vote Socialist.)

@cigarfan - sorry you are wrong again
The "socialist party" is not on the ballet in WA. These other two parties but neither are the socialist party and the last one is the communist party: Socialism & Liberation Party (doesn't make sense as Libertarian and Socialism having nothing in common) AND Socialist Workers Party (Communist). So which of these are you voting for? P.S. I am voting Libertarian i.e. Gary Johnson.
