Husband of JBLM soldier accused of killing, freezing autistic stepbrother

The husband of a Joint Base Lewis McChord soldier is charged with killing and then freezing his autistic stepbrother before burying him near their home in Wisconsin.

Jeffrey Vogelsberg, 28, was arrested at the JBLM main gate on Tuesday. Vogelsberg is charged with first-degree intentional homicide and hiding a corpse.

At a news conference Tuesday, Dane County Sheriff Dave Mahoney said Matthew Graville was tortured and abused by his stepbrother who killed him, froze his body in a freezer and then buried it last July.

The State Journal says sheriff’s officials are also holding a relative who’s accused of stealing from Graville’s bank accounts. A third person is suspected of helping Vogelsberg hide the victim’s body.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
