Accused child molester gets 10 more years in prison

Nov 6, 2012, 1:00 PM | Updated: 2:15 pm

A man accused of raping young boys at his Lake Tapps home and videotaping the crimes has been sentenced to 10 more years in prison.

Superior Court Judge Katherine M. Stolz. allowed Marc Gilbert, 52, to an Alford plea of guilty to 14 reduced counts of child molestation in the second and third degree. Gilbert isn’t admitting guilt, but understands there is sufficient evidence to convict him.

In 2009, Gilbert pleaded guilty in federal court to 31 counts of producing child pornography and was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Acting as his own attorney, Gilbert has been granted copies of the evidence against him: homemade pornographic videos, some of which depict him spanking, caning, and sexually assaulting young boys.

Prosecutors say Gilbert attracted the boys with airplane rides, flying lessons, and alcohol.

KING-TV reports Gilbert apologized to his victims.

“I’ve caused so much pain for these individuals,” Gilbert said. “I feel horrible because of my actions already and for what the victims have gone through, and I want to end this.”
