Puget Sound emergency crews to prepare for terrorist attack, earthquake

How would our first responders react in the event of a major earthquake or a terrorist attack in the Puget Sound area?
Seattle Fire Department’s Kyle Moore explained that when the worst of the worst strikes, it will depend on our local agencies working together to make sure we’re all safe.
The federal government has decided that if there is a large scale disaster, from an earthquake or a terrorist attack, the response could take up to 72 hours.
Local departments are going to hold a terror drill Sunday in SoDo to prepare.
Hundreds of first responders will be on hand, according to Moore. “We’re bringing in people from Pierce, King, and Snohomish counties.”
Moore said these agencies come together several times a year, but the drill will give them a unique opportunity to practice their emergency skills.
“You’re going to see a lot of fire engines, you’re going to see a lot of firetrucks, you’re going to see tents and a lot of law enforcement milling about.”
Responders will start arriving in the area between South Massachusetts Street, South Holgate Street, 1st Avenue South and 4th Avenue South at 4 a.m. Crews will wrap up around 5 p.m.
