Sounders FC stand-outs Jordan Morris and Cristian Roldan are proud to show their support of the LGBT community ahead of this weekend’s Pride Day match up against NYCFC at CenturyLink Field.
“It’s awesome to play for a team that shows that support,” homegrown Sounders FC forward Jordan Morris told Sounders FC Weekly with Jason Rantz. “It’s just great to be part of a community and city that’s so inclusive of everyone. It’s a very important thing and it’s great to have the Sounders have a full [open-stadium] game surrounding that, to show support for everyone.”
Former University of Washington star and current stand-out Sounders FC midfielder Cristian Roldan agreed, noting how accepting the world of soccer is for gay players.
“You’ve seen a lot of gay players come out,” Roldan explained. “Their career has been the same even after they’ve opened up. I think it’s great for those players to have the courage to do so and we’re happy to be a part of it.”
