A serious crash and the follow-up investigation closed off a portion of northbound State Route 167 long enough to impact traffic well after the scene was cleared.
KIRO 7 reports that as of around 8 a.m. there was still a 4.5-mile backup on 167 in Auburn.
The crash, which occurred just after 2 a.m., blocked several lanes at 37th Street NW on northbound 167 in Auburn, near Emerald Downs.
The driver of one of the vehicles is in critical condition, according to Washington State trooper Chris Webb. At least three other people were seriously injured.
