Gun goes off during Federal Way robbery

Sep 19, 2012, 8:26 AM | Updated: 10:12 am

Two armed robbers held up a couple of Federal Way gas stations early Wednesday morning and police in south King County wonder if they might be responsible for other crimes.

Investigators are considering the possibility that the same guys might have hit elsewhere overnight and maybe in previous days too.

“We are confident both of these robberies are connected and there could be other robberies that have similar MOs with other local agencies,” said Kathy Schrock, a spokeswoman for Federal Way Police.

Nobody was hurt in the first robbery at a gas station on 356th. In the second holdup, on Military Road, a convenience store clerk was hit in the head and face when he resisted the robbers.

“There’s an indication that during the second robbery, the firearm may have gone off but it didn’t appear that it was an intentional shot. It might just have been during the course of the struggle,” said Schrock.

Police from Federal Way and other agencies are gathering still and video surveillance images of the robbers, trying to figure out how many holdups they’ve done.
