Bellevue officers investigated after dustup at CenturyLink

Sep 19, 2012, 5:37 AM | Updated: 6:53 am

Some Bellevue Police officers are in trouble for hassling a Seattle officer who was working Sunday’s Seahawks game at CenturyLink Field.

Three off-duty Bellevue officers had apparently been doing some heavy tailgating before the game. The Seattle Times reports one of them tossed a beer cup on the ground in front of the Seattle officer, and when she asked him to pick it up, they all surrounded her and started calling her names.

The officers flashed their badges and taunted the officer. Backup was called, but the unruly behavior continued.

Bellevue’s chief has since apologized to the officer and ordered an internal investigation. No one in the group was arrested or cited, though the officers appeared to be intoxicated.
