Two burglars have been arrested by the King County Sheriff’s Office after they were caught in the act on a victim’s security camera.

King County Sheriff’s Sergeant Cindi West said the video, turned over by a homeowner living in Hollywood Hill near Woodinville, was good quality and even better evidence. The video showed the suspects driving up to the victim’s house on Wednesday and leaving with a substantial amount of property.

According to the homeowner, he had just left for work when the suspects tried to break into his house just after 8 a.m. on August 8. His wife reported that she was showering inside and didn’t hear the suspects.

When they couldn’t break into the house, the suspects broke into an outdoor shed and stole $2,000 worth of tools, including a generator and pressure washer.

Through the video, detectives were able to get the car’s make, model, and license plate.

When detectives spotted the car at a Bothell Way motel on Saturday, they got a search warrant and found the burglars in possession of stolen property from more than one burglary.

Sergeant West said that the video and the detective’s teamwork made the arrest go smoothly.

“No problem. Took them into custody. It was pretty clear by the video evidence that they were the ones that committed the first burglary, and through the investigation we found out there was another burglary that they were responsible for and got quite a bit of property back from that,” said Sergeant West.

The suspects are currently being held at the King County Jail for suspicion of residential burglary.
