To summarize the message for Day 1 of the Republican Convention here in Cleveland: Hillary Clinton is a liar, who allowed American citizens to be murdered in Benghazi, and who should be jailed for endangering national security by carelessly storing classified information.
Donald Trump, by contrast, was described by Willie Robertson of Duck Dynasty as kind of like the brothers he grew up with but might not always get along with.

“Any time I was ever in a bad spot, I always knew my brothers would have my back. And we need a president who will have our back,” he said.
Scott Baio, famous as Chachi on Happy Days, said America is becoming unstable and Donald Trump is just the guy to fix it; although he didn’t want to go too far.
“Is Donald Trump a messiah? No. He’s just a man. A man who wants to give back to his country,” he said.
But outside the hall, some delegates were worried. One of them was a Texas Delegate and activist named Artemio Muniz who wants to vote for his party’s candidate, but can’t.
“I want to help Trump win,” he said. “But you can’t go out and call Mexicans rapists and criminals and you can’t say that Mexico isn’t sending their best.”
His parents were illegal immigrants from Mexico who got amnesty in 1986.
“It’s a personal issue for me,” he continued. “And I’m a hardcore Republican guy that’s helped run races. Can you imagine the Hispanic voter who lives in a 30-second sound byte world? They’re angry.”
