The Manti Te’o story is back, and it’s better than ever. For those who don’t recall because you have a life, Notre Dame football player Manti Te’o made headlines when he reportedly learned he had been hoaxed into thinking that he had a girlfriend.
As we now know, that woman did not exist and, well, it was not even a woman, but instead, the voice of a man, Ronaiah Tuiasasopo.
Well the story is back! A minor league baseball team in Florence, Kentucky called The Florence Freedom, has announced it will give away Manti Te’o girlfriend bobblehead dolls, which are in fact, empty boxes.
And Josh Anderson, the General Manager of the Florence Freedom, says that’s not the only Manti Te’o-themed promotion planned for the game.
Anderson tells CBS there will be an imaginary kiss cam, as well as an imaginary food fight, and even a special section dedicated to imaginary people, “section 115, where all the fans with their imaginary significant others can enjoy the game,” says Anderson.
Only the first 1,000 fans Thursday get the Lennay Kekua bobblehead. Gates open at 5:35 p.m.
