Election results: Key races in Washington primary

Washington primary election results

Governor

Governor Jay Inslee (D) faces Bill Bryant (R) a former Port of Seattle Commissioner. Nine other candidates are on the Washington primary ballot.

Jay Inslee: 49.19 percent

Bill Bryant: 38.49 percent

U.S. Senate

Long-time Senator Patty Murray hopes to win another term in office. She faces Republican Chris Vance, a former chairman of the state Republican Party.

Patty Murray: 53.74 percent

Chris Vance: 27.65 percent

7th Congressional District

For the first time in 28 years, the 7th District seat is open after Jim McDermott announced he wasn’t running again. Nine candidates are running for the position, including five Democrats and two Republicans.

Pramila Jayapal: 41.88 percent

Joe McDermott: 19.27 percent

Brady Walkinshaw: 21.23 percent

Seattle housing levy

Proposition 1 concerns replacing (and increasing) Seattle’s expiring housing levy. The new seven-year levy would authorize the city to raise up to $290 million in additional property taxes, which, according to The Seattle Times, is about $122 per year for the owner of a $480,000 home.

Yes: 70.39 percent

No: 29.61 percent

Seattle viaduct park – measure no. 123

If approved by voters, a portion of the Alaskan Way Viaduct would remain in tact as a mile-long elevated park.

Yes: 17.10 percent

No: 82.9 percent

Snohomish County sales-tax increase

A county-wide sales tax would raise funds for sheriff’s deputies in an effort to fight an ongoing heroin epidemic.

Yes: 49.75 percent

No: 50.25 percent

State superintendent of public instruction

Current Superintendent Randy Dorn is not seeking re-election, which leaves the door open to seven candidates vying for the position.

Ron Higgins: 16.73 percent

Erin Jones: 25.51 percent

Chris Reykdal: 20.99 percent

Pierce County Executive

Rick Talbert (D), Larry Faulk (R), Bruce Dammeier (R), Dan Roach (R) are battling for the position.

Rick Talbert: 46.08 percent

Larry Faulk: 7.13 percent

Bruce Dammeier: 30.16 percent

Dan Roach: 16.46 percent
